Buoy E1

Buoy E1 constitutes one of 2 measurement stations operated by the Institute of Marine Sciences of the National Research Council along the coast of Romagna, off the Po Delta.

Installed in a body of water with a depth of about 10 m (GPS 44.14325 N – 12.5701 E), it was winged by CNR-ISMAR in August 2006.

The buoy is located at a key monitoring point for the study of interactions between the Upper Adriatic and the Po River, experiencing a wide range of oceanographic conditions.

The system is equipped with NRT logging and transmission devices, 12 and 24 VDC DC power systems, weather station, and oceanographic instrumentation at different depth levels (including CTD probes, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll, turbidity, and CDOM sensors, ADCP). Additional measurements are routinely collected at the site with periodic sampling regarding biology, chemistry, and oceanography.

The buoy contributes to the European research infrastructure LTER, as part of the Upper Adriatic site.
