Oceanographic infrastructures

Some hydrologic transects are regularly repeated for monitoring variables of oceanographic interest.

Corsica Channel
A hydrological transect between Italy and Corsica is repeated during the maintenance of the current meter chain, which occurs about twice a year. The site is also in close proximity to cross-overs of Topex, Jason and ERS height tracks, and has been used for calibration of height tracks.

Sicily Channel
A hydrological transect between Sicily and Tunisia is repeated during the maintenance of the currentometer chain, which occurs about twice a year.
